  Sport Communications

  This course is an introduction to the communications industry and its relationship with sport. Students will explore issues including racial and ethnic minorities, and gender in sport and their relationship to sport and media. The course will also provide students opportunities to develop practical communication skills and learn how media and sport interact. Focus will be placed on public relations, desktop publishing, technological advances in sport communications, Broadcasting/Journalism in sport, organizational communication, and print media.

IV. Other Course Requirements - 13 credit hours

Students in Sport Management will complete six (6) credit hours of restricted electives from the areas of Human Performance and Recreation or Mass Communication depending on their field of interest. Students will enroll in a total of four (4) hours of Honors Thesis to develop and complete the requirement of a senior project or thesis. Additionally, students will complete three (3) hours of free electives.
