Admission
All individuals interested in completing a teacher education program at
Claflin University
matriculate through four transition points. The first transition point
starts with the declaration of a major in a teacher education area. The second transition
point is Admission to Teacher Education, the third transition point is Admission
to Clinical Practice and the final transition is university recommendation for
South Carolina
certification.
Transition Point I. Declaration of Major
Data will be collected
on all individuals who officially declare a major in one of the teacher education
programs. Data to be collected include GPA, SAT/ACT scores,
and
field experience evaluations.

Admission to teacher education is based upon consideration of each student’s academic

be admitted to teacher education at least one semester prior to enrolling in Student
Teaching (EDUC 450). |
